Cookie Policy

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small values stored by your browser and sent with website requests. Similar technologies include local storage. This policy describes the current Dig Maps application's session and measurement features.

Session cookie

Name: PHPSESSID (the site's PHP session cookie).

Provider and purpose: first-party Dig Maps session identifier supporting sign-in, security tokens, form state and registration steps. It refers to information held on the server and does not contain your password.

Duration: Session cookie, normally until the browser session ends. Session-restore settings can keep it longer. Server-side session expiry may differ.

Blocking this cookie may prevent sign-in, registration or secure form submission. Session functionality supports requested account and form features.

Statistics and advertising

Basic public-page statistics count loads and approximate country without analytics cookies or local storage creating a persistent visitor identifier. An IP address is used with a local country database; the statistics retain aggregate totals. Separate hosting and security logs may still process IP addresses.

Built-in sponsor measurement counts impressions and clicks without itself setting third-party advertising cookies. Following a sponsor link opens a website where other cookies and policies may apply.

External resources

Event maps load MapTiler imagery and mapping software from unpkg. Some pages load a sound from Google. Those requests disclose connection information even where no cookie is set. Map requests may reveal the area viewed. See our Privacy Policy for provider details.

Google Maps and what3words links open external services when you select them. Providers control their own cookies and settings. This policy needs review when integrations or hosting features change.

Device permissions

GPS and device-orientation permissions are browser permissions, not cookies. Revoke them through browser site settings or device settings. Clearing cookies does not necessarily reset permissions. Without GPS permission the location-guidance feature will not work.

Remembering your notice choice

The first-party cookie dm_cookie_notice remembers whether you selected Agree or Close for this notice for up to 180 days. It contains only a notice version and your choice, not a visitor identifier. Agree acknowledges this notice; Close dismisses it without agreement. Neither action enables optional tracking. Use Cookie settings in the footer to reopen the notice and change your choice. You can remove the cookie in your browser settings; if storage is blocked the notice may appear again.

Your choices

You can inspect, block and delete cookies in your browser's privacy settings. Removing a session cookie can sign you out or interrupt a registration form. Browser settings also control third-party cookies and site permissions.

If optional technologies requiring consent are introduced, they must stay off until you choose to allow them, with a way to withdraw that choice. This policy provides information; it does not itself collect consent or enable tracking.
